Symbian OS is a operating system that is used for Mobile telephones especially those from Nokia and Sony Ericsson.

The operating system is based on Psions EPOC operating system. The operating system is 32bit and runs exclusively on ARM processors and is able to multi task.

Applications that are to be installed on the operating system use the .app extension and are installed to the operating system by the Symbian Installation file.
