Rhinoceros is a NURBS modelling program which can be used to create,edit, analyse, document, translate, animate and render Nurb curves, surfaces and solids through the use of models. Files that Rhinoceros uses for layers have the .lay file extension.

A layer as used by Rhinoceros makes it possible to manipulate and organise objects as needed either all at once or singularly.
