XPS is an alternative to Adobe´s PDF format and is a XML paper specification which is used for printing in Microsofts Windows by the  Windows Printing Machine.

XPS files are only supported by Windows and if using other operating systems you will not be able to open them.

It is possible to open and view XPS files using XPS Reader from Microsoft.
