Microsoft Works is similar to Microsoft's Office Suite in that it has a Word Processor program, a spread sheet program and a database program, it was released as a  home productivity tool and the programs included do not have the same functions as the normal office programs.

The word processor used by Microsoft Works used the .wps file extension which was later superseded by the .doc extension used by Microsoft word.
