One of the companies that specialises in the analysis of statistics is SPSS also known as Statistical Package for the Social Sciences. This company was taken over by IBM and is now known as IBM SPSS Statistics  with the version 19 being the latest version.

Data Output files created by SPSS software use the .spo file extension, these files store charts, databases and reports created by the software.

SPO files are only used in the program up until the version  15, later versions make use of the .spv file extension.
