Pinnacle Systems is the developer of hard and software for use with digital video, the company was founded in 1986 and has since been taken over by Avid Technology. Today Pinnacle Studio is the main software manufactured by the company, an earlier program instant copy was used to make copy's and create disc images from DVD´s.

Instant copy has since been superseded by Pinnacle Studio but its extension .pdi is still in use and describe the disc image that has been created by the program.
